Award Winners
Congratulations to Linda Peacock from Burke Museum, Beechworth for picking up a Museums Australia (Victoria) award in
Melbourne recently. Corowa Shire Council were also recognised for their inaugural Festival of Fun for Kids. Keep an eye out
for the festival again next year.
Introducing the Cube Wodonga
The Cube Wodonga was selected as the new name of the Arts, Community and Entertainment Centre (ACEC).
The venue replaces the Wodonga Civic Centre in Hovell St and will become a centrepiece for the city’s central business district once construction is completed.

New Australian Curriculum for the Arts
The Arts will be given a central place in the new Australian Curriculum with the recent release of a shaping paper setting out how drama, dance, music, visual arts and media arts will be studied in all schools.

Movie filmed locally
Filming for a major new Australian movie based on the singing group “The Sapphires” commenced in late August.
The movie tells the story of a group of Aboriginal women plucked from the obscurity of an Aboriginal mission in the 60s. The production team have set up an office in Albury and using local talent will be filming in Henty, Culcairn and Corowa.
Wodonga, Albury councils launch joint community guide
Wodonga and Albury councils have developed an improved online community guide for Border residents. The Albury Wodonga Community Guide provides the details of more than 1200 organisations, across 33 categories.
Enhanced features of the new guide include Google map integration, full contact details of each organisation and the ability for groups listed to update their own information. Individual listings and categories can also be easily printed and emailed.
Those who do not have access to the internet are encouraged to use the free internet services available through the council libraries, or contact the council staff for assistance.
Hard copy versions of the complete guide are available at the council offices.

Visual Art Prize: Express yourself visually with the Indigo 2030 Visual Art Prize. Draw, paint, photograph, stitch or shape your ideas about what you see for the place where you live in the year 2030 and beyond.
Theme for Visual Art Prize:
It’s 2030 - Do you see what I see?
Exhibition: The Indigo 2030 Visual Art Prize exhibition will be held November 2 – 13, 10am to 4pm at Yackandandah Public Hall, and in Rutherglen Memorial Hall, November 18 – 20.
Short Story Competition: Tell us a story set in Indigo Shire in the year 2030 and start it with one of the sentences provided. There is no minimum word requirement. Write a fantasy, a futuristic memoir, a poem or a play and share with us your ideas about what you see for the place where you live in the year 2030.

Launch of National Indigenous Art Prizes Competition
