Kirrily Anderson loves the diversity of nature and the contrasting landscape of the Border and North East region, "from the Murray to the Ovens, the plains to the Mountains and all the valleys in between, it really feels like we've got it all. There is also great food, wine, beer, festivals and I've met a ton of creatives since arriving here from Melbourne. It feels like there's no reason to not live here!"...we'll raise a 'winery walkabout' glass to that!

Vegemite or honey? I love both, but you can't beat Vegemite on toast.

Sunset or sunrise? I love the stillness and freshness of sunrise, but give me colours in the sky at any time of the day!

Melbourne or Sydney? Melbourne, no question.

Local Inspiration
What inspired you to move to the North East region?

I love the diversity of nature up here - from the Murray to the Ovens, the plains to the mountains and all the valleys in between, it really feels like we've got it all. There is also great food, wine, beer, festivals and I've met a ton of creatives since arriving here from Melbourne. It feels like there's no reason to not live here!

The Working Life
What are your top 3 tips for someone dreaming of a career in the arts?
Do what you love and the money will come (eventually...!)
Try not to compare yourself to your peers, do what YOU do and believe in it, don't tray and be anyone else
When in doubt, just do it - don't let self doubt stop you from applying for grants, prizes, commissions etc. Say yes and figure it out later!

Money no object, what would be your dream project?
Installing murals in foreign countries is always fun and rewarding. I also really enjoyed a recent collaboration with Rainbird Clothing, I'd love to collaborate again with a fashion label. I'm really lucky that I already get to do my dream projects! I guess travelling Europe (in the summer!) alternating between fashion and murals would be a dream!
