Art & Cultural Contribution Program

The City of Wodonga values art and culture and the contribution it makes to a dynamic, diverse and holistic community. The Arts and Cultural Contributions Program is one way Council seeks to support a range of cultural practices, community development and entertainment opportunities.

Applications are invited from eligible community and professional arts and cultural organisations towards their core operational costs; and for creative new initiatives within Wodonga. Grants will be awarded commensurate with the organisation’s objectives, track record and infrastructure; and outcomes of proposed projects.

Artists in Schools

Application Due: 10 September 2010 for projects commencing after 14 March 2011.
Funding Amount: $6,500

Artists in Schools provides opportunities for professional artists to work with young people in Victorian primary and secondary schools.

Schools engage an artist for up to 20 days to work with students and teachers on a creative project, which may be in any art form.

Asialink Residency Program

Applications Due: 10 September

Each year the Asialink Residency program sends 40 Australian writers, performers, artists and arts managers to live and work throughout Asia. Since its inception in 1991 the program has sent more than 550 people to hosts in 19 countries. The grant of up to $12,000 goes towards travel, living and project expenses, and affords recipients the opportunity for in-depth research, stimulating cultural exchanges, international collaboration and uninterrupted time for creativity. Residencies are available in the following artform areas: arts management, writing, performing arts, and visual arts.

The CASS Foundation Education Grants (Creative Arts) 2011

Funding Amount: $20,000
Applications Due: Friday 10 September

The CASS Foundation invites applications from Victorian Primary Schools for one-year Education grants of up to $20,000 to support new, curriculum-centred Creative Arts projects in 2011. The intention of these grants is to enable schools to access expertise, skills and experiences in the creative arts that will enrich teaching and learning in the Arts, and across the curriculum.

The arts proposal may be in any arts discipline/s, including literature, visual arts, performing arts, or digital media. The arts project component may be an extension of the school’s Arts curriculum, or a creative arts program introduced to add engagement and depth to learning in other subject areas.

Australia Council for the Arts Grants

FotoVisura Grant for an Outstanding Personal Photography Project

Applications Due: Wednesday September 15

The FotoVisura Grant provides support for amateur, professional, and student photographers to continue developing personal work.

The Grant encourages the production and development of photography outside the commercial realm.

This year’s Grant has two categories: The FotoVisura Grant for Outstanding Personal Photography Project, offering $2,000 + prizes to the winner; and The Spotlight Grant for Outstanding Student Photography Project, offering $1,000 + prizes.

Indent and Music NSW 2011 Youth Partnership Grants

Indent, a project of MusicNSW, has announced applications are now open for its 2011 Indent Partnership Grants Program, providing funding for young people to run all ages drug and alcohol free music events across New South Wales. Many young people who have been involved in the Indent Partnership Grants program have gone on to work with festivals such as the Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass and many others.

M&G NSW | VIM Small Grants

Applications Due: Friday 22 October 2010

VIM Small Grants aim to meet the short-term, collection-based requirements of community museums and keeping places.

Grants of up to $1,500 are available and there are no set categories for funding. Applications for a broad range of projects will be considered. Previous VIM Small Grants have funded the purchase of computer cataloguing software, exhibition mannequins and display cases, oral history recording equipment and archival storage items.

Ian Potter Foundation Grants

Applications Due: Monday 13 September

Travel and Conference Grants of $2,000-$3,000 to enable outstanding individuals, with promising careers and potentially important contributions to make to the Australian community, to exchange knowledge with their peers through professional development opportunities elsewhere.

Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grants of up to $7,000 for early career artists practicing in a wide range of disciplines within the arts, including the performing and visual arts, crafts, music, media, literature, design, and community arts.

National Film and Sound Archive Scholars and Artists in Residence 2011 Research Fellowships

The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) invites proposals from people who wish to conduct high level research into the national audiovisual collection. This research may take various forms.

Applications for SAR Fellowships are invited for periods of up to eight weeks between February and mid-December 2011.

Waverley Artist Residency and Bondi Pavilion Gallery

Applications Due: Friday 17 September

Waverley Council in Sydney is offering six places in its 2011 Artist-in-Residence Program. The Artist-in-Residence Program provides rent-free studio space for six months in the Bondi-Waverley School of Arts in Bondi.

Applications are open to Australian artists working in visual arts and craft, design and new media.

Applications are also open to Australian and international artists interested in presenting their work at the Bondi Pavilion Gallery in 2011.

The Gallery is located in the iconic heritage listed Bondi Pavilion and boasts an enormous visitation and an accessible attitude to audience
development for cross section arts practices.
